Mimiko rejects Atiku’s appointment, backs Wike on PDP crisis

Former Ondo Governor Olusegun Mimiko has rejected his appointment as leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Council in the State.

He also said he won’t abandon his support for Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike on the call for equity within the party.

Mimiko was named Leader of the just constituted Ondo PDP Presidential Campaign Council billed for inauguration on Thursday.

But the former Governor, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Digital Communications, John Paul Akinduro, said he had been inundated with calls and messages from political associates on whether he has abandoned Wike and four other Governors demanding the resignation of PDP National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu as a condition to back Atiku’s presidential aspiration.

The statement reads: “It must be stated with emphasis that Dr. Mimiko was neither consulted by anyone nor consented to his inclusion in any Ondo state PDP Presidential Campaign Council list.

“For the avoidance of doubt and to set the record straight, Dr Mimiko is unwavering in his commitment to the principle of equity, fairness and justice through which he believes a credible push for a PDP victory is possible.

“He fully subscribes to the agitation by his colleagues and other stakeholders in PDP and the generality of Nigerians that the PDP structure must reflect Nigeria’s diversities if it genuinely wants to unify a visibly divided country.”

Saudi Arabia welcomes Indonesian pilgrims without health conditions or age restrictions

MAKKAH — Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, started an official visit to Indonesia, where he met with several senior officials in various fields, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in several aspects.

In his meetings, Dr. Al-Rabiah reiterated that the Kingdom welcomes all Indonesian Umrah performers without health conditions or age restrictions.

He pointed out that the “Nusuk” platform and the electronic services it provides have contributed significantly and effectively to increase the number of Umrah performers coming to Makkah and Madinah, in light of the unlimited support by the Saudi leadership.

The minister also met with the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Khalil Qumas and discussed with him the strategic partnership between the two countries.

They also discussed the procedural facilities for the arrival of Indonesian Umrah performers in the framework of achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, especially after automating Umrah services to facilitate the arrival of pilgrims to Makkah and Madinah.

Dr. Al-Rabiah highlighted the strong Saudi-Indonesian relations, noting that this motivates both sides to increase digital solutions under the umbrella of the Pilgrim Experience Program to provide solutions and options for Umrah and visit visas electronically through the “Nusuk” platform.

It also helps to extend the duration of the Umrah visa from one month to 3 months for pilgrims from all over the world, and the abolition of the mahram for women performing Umrah, and other facilities.

During the meetings, the two sides discussed efforts made by more than 30 government agencies in Saudi Arabia within the Hajj and Umrah system, to accelerate the pace of work in a manner that enhances bilateral strategic cooperation between the two countries, and to enhance the quality of services provided to pilgrims coming from Indonesia. — SPA

Nigerian street hop singer Mohbad has officially terminated his contract with Naira Marley’s Marlian Music record label.

The singer’s management announced his exit from the record label on Tuesday, October 25, as his legal team released a statement asserting that Mohbad’s exit was as a result of the constant attacks he received, which were orchestrated by Naira Marley, and unpaid royalties since 2019.

The “KPK” crooner’s exit comes weeks after he took to Twitter on October 5, to reveal bloodied bodies, claiming that it was as a result of being assaulted by the Marlian crew, because he requested to have his manager changed.

“Just because I want to change my manager who is their brother, see what they did to me at Marlian House,” he had tweeted, saying “World pls help me oo I’m dying inside.”

Revealing that he was at the hospital for a CT Scan for head impact and chest X-ray as a result of the assault, he added “I’m not high oo cos that is what dey always say just to die down everything.”

He accused Naira Marley of being present during the assault and doing nothing to stop it.

The artiste is also accusing Marlian Music record label of refusing to pay him his royalties from monetised intellectual content and advances as mutually agreed since 2019.

“In contravention of the terms of the arrangement between our client and yourself, you have failed to pay any advances as mutually agreed by both parties since 2019 till date;

“You have also failed to pay all royalties due our client from all his intellectual property works monetized, released and utilised by you from 2019 till date,” the document read.
